Object, Artifact, and Archival Donations

The National Electronics Museum is not currently accepting object donations while we plan our move to a new facility. We value your support and look forward to accepting object donations in the future. If your offer is time sensitive, please consider contacting other museums for possible donations.

Thank you for considering the National Electronics Museum as a repository for your historic electronic artifacts.

What we collect: We collect materials focusing on the organization, design, development, integration, and operation of complex electronic systems for space, air, ocean, or ground environment.  These systems include, but are not limited to, navigation, avionics, communications, aerospace power, radar, sonar, telemetry, defense, and command and control. Personal computer equipment is not generally within our collecting scope.

Donation Process: please contact the nemuseum@gmail.com to make a donation offer. All offered materials must be reviewed to ensure they meet the museum’s collections needs and criteria. Many donation offers can be reviewed and accepted or declined by Collections staff; however, some offers may need review by our Collections Committee, which meets quarterly.

To ensure full consideration of offers, the review process may take several weeks.

Please do not bring potential donations to the museum unless you have an appointment with a staff member. Front Desk staff and volunteers are not able to accept object donations.

Read our Guidelines for Donors for more information.

For NEM to consider your donation offer please send an email with the following information and, if possible, a digital photograph to nemuseum@gmail.com.

  • Name/description of object
  • Maker and model/type number
  • Date
  • Provenance – how did you come to own it? Who owned it before you?
  • Condition – has it been repaired or altered? Is it clean and free of pests/mold?
  • Location – are you able to deliver the object(s) if the museum accepts the donation?
