Director – Mike Simons
Mike Simons joined the NEM staff in January 2005. Mike comes from the National Museum of Health and Medicine where he worked as Registrar. Mike has a BA from Kent State University and a MA from Southern Illinois University. He trained as an archeologist, doing fieldwork and research in India, Micronesia, the Greater Antilles, and the Eastern U.S.
Assistant Director –Alice Donahue
Alice Donahue received her Masters degree in Public History from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) in 2008. Her graduate research focused on clothing and material culture in the colonial era Chesapeake region. Alice comes to the museum from Mount Clare Museum House, where she was curator.
Museum Educator – Walt Bilous
Walt Bilous received his BS Degree in Industrial Education and Technology from Montclair State University in Upper Montclair, New Jersey in 1979. Since earning his degree, Walt has worked in the Electronics and Post-Secondary Education field throughout his 40+ year career journey. Walt’s relationship with the National Electronics Museum began as a Saturday volunteer over 10 years ago. He transitioned into an Education Assistant position in 2017 and to the Museum Educator position in 2019. Walt is a senior member of both the IEEE and the Electronics Technician’s Association. He holds an FCC Extra Class Amateur Radio license and several FCC Commercial licenses.
Administrator – Julia Tontala
Julia Tontala received her BS in Art & Design with a concentration in Photography and minors in Museum Studies and English from Towson University in 2015. She interned at NEM right after graduation and ended up joining the team again in February 2017 as the Visitor Services Representative before taking on the position of Administrator.
Visitor Services Representative – Amy Halusky
Amy Halusky was employed in the insurance industry for over 15 years, as a senior workers compensation claims adjuster for several jurisdictions. Her additional interests and areas of study include, Art, specifically painting and oil pastels, as well as architectural drawing. These interests led to freelance art, where in many pieces were sold or donated.
